An
Overview of the
Legacy Planning Process
-
Step One: The Initial Interview (Approximately 2 Hours)
The initial interview is intended to provide
all members of the estate planning team with the opportunity to meet
together to discuss the benefits of planning and the available options. At the conclusion of this
meeting, Galbraith Associates will make a recommendation about your
planning needs and quote a
flat fee for design, implementing and strategically-funding the
proposed plan.
-
Step Two: The Design Meeting (Approximately 3 Hours)
During the design meeting, specific planning
options are presented in a logical and orderly fashion,
and the plan is diagramed in detail for future reference. Galbraith
Associates will provide a checklist to enable you to further customize
your plan with letters of instruction to trustees, guardians and/or health
care representative. We also discuss and determine how to properly
retitle your assets, we review legal funding issues, and we
follow up on financial concerns and issues identified during our initial
meeting.
-
Step
Three: Implementation Meeting (Approximately 1.5 Hours)
Comprehensive planning documents are
lengthy and must contain technical-legal language. To promote
understanding, the attorney will meet with you to review the
estate plan. Additionally, you execute the forms and
documentation necessary to "fund" your estate
plan.
Planning
Tools
To help us prepare for your consultation, we
would like to provide you the opportunity to complete our Confidential
Estate Planning Questionnaire, our Estate
Planning Objectives, and Is Your Estate Plan Up-To-Date? worksheets. These worksheets are meant to
provide you with and idea of what to expect at your first meeting and to
give our attorneys an idea of your estate planning goals. It is not
necessary that the worksheets be completed in entirety before the
meeting, but we do ask that you bring them with you to the consultation.
You
must have Acrobat® Reader™ installed on your computer to
view the planning worksheets. You may download it for free at www.adobe.com.
If you are not able to access the planning worksheets, please call our
office at 317.578.1400 (in Indiana) or 239.593.0996 (in Florida) to request a copy of the
documents.
